Job summary

The LaSalle Network is partnering with a well-established construction firm to recruit a Site Safety and Health Officer for on-site Des Plaines, IL projects. The role focuses on safety and quality oversight across federal and public agency builds, reporting to the Project Manager and collaborating with the project team.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of construction safety/quality oversight experience with a general contractor.
• Bachelor's degree in construction-related field.
• Current OSHA/EM 385/Hazwoper/NAVFAC ECATTS certifications.
• CPR/First Aid certification.
• Proven ability to lead safety meetings and coordinate QC activities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain understanding of contract, plans and specs to support Project Manager.
• Create, update, and maintain project submittal log and QC reports.
• Review shop drawings/submittals for conformance with specs.
• Chair and document weekly QC and Safety meetings and minutes.
• Provide daily QC and Safety reports and address non-conformances.
• Conduct meetings to establish standards of care for work features.
• Verify materials conformity and safe handling/storage.
• Coordinate testing and commissioning of building systems.
• Develop and update QC & APP plans to align with safety standards.
• Work with subs/vendors to obtain safety documents (AHAs, lift plans).
• Collect and file safety meeting materials and toolbox talks.
