The role requires 10+ years in construction safety, 5+ years in safety leadership, and active OSHA standards knowledge, with the ability to travel the site, communicate across levels, and drive corrective actions.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide daily, hands-on safety oversight and maintain a visible presence on the jobsite.
• Conduct frequent jobsite safety inspections, observations, audits, and hazard assessments.
• Identify hazards and coordinate with leadership to implement corrective actions.
• Review JHAs, AHAs, pre-task plans, permits, and other safety documentation.
• Lead daily toolbox talks, safety meetings, orientations, and training for employees and subcontractors.
• Monitor compliance with OSHA construction standards and site procedures.
• Coordinate with management, GC, client reps, and subcontractors on safety requirements.

Hodess is seeking an experienced Site Safety Manager to provide hands‑on safety leadership for construction operations at a project in Chandler, Arizona.

The Site Safety Manager will maintain a strong field presence and work closely with project management, site supervision, subcontractors, and field personnel to promote a safe, compliant, and productive work environment. This role will be responsible for identifying and addressing jobsite hazards, supporting OSHA compliance, leading safety initiatives, and ensuring that safety expectations are consistently communicated and followed across the project.

The ideal candidate is an experienced construction safety professional who is comfortable working in an active field and construction environment, communicating with personnel at all levels, and taking decisive action when unsafe conditions or behaviors are identified. The role requires regular movement throughout the jobsite, including navigating stairs and elevated work areas as needed, and working outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide daily, hands‑on safety oversight and maintain a visible presence throughout the jobsite.
• Conduct frequent and regular jobsite safety inspections, observations, audits, and hazard assessments.
• Identify existing and potential hazards and work with project leadership to implement timely corrective and preventive actions.
• Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), pre‑task plans, permits, and other project safety documentation.
• Lead and participate in daily toolbox talks, safety meetings, orientations, and employee/subcontractor safety training.
• Monitor work activities and verify compliance with OSHA construction requirements, project‑specific safety procedures, and client/GC requirements.
• Coordinate with project management, site supervision, the General Contractor (GC), client representatives, subcontractors, and other safety personnel regarding safety requirements and concerns.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, property damage, and other safety events; document findings and assist with root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate and timely safety records, inspection reports, training documentation, incident reports, and other required project documentation.
• Verify that employees and subcontractors comply with site‑specific safety requirements, training requirements, and applicable safe‑work practices.
• Support implementation and enforcement of project safety programs, including applicable requirements related to fall protection, excavation, scaffolding, powered equipment, PPE, and other construction hazards.
• Exercise and promote Stop Work Authority when unsafe conditions, acts, or behaviors are identified, and ensure work resumes only when appropriate corrective measures have been implemented.
• Serve as a safety resource to field leadership and provide practical guidance for resolving safety issues.
• Support continuous improvement of the project's overall safety culture, performance, and compliance.
• Perform other safety‑related duties as required to support successful project execution.

Requirements

• 10+ years of construction safety experience.
• 5+ years of safety management or safety leadership experience.
• Current OSHA 510 – Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry certification/course completion.
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction standards (29 CFR Part 1926).
• Demonstrated experience managing safety on large‑scale construction projects.
• Strong understanding of jobsite hazard identification, risk assessment, incident investigation, and corrective‑action processes.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with project managers, superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, and craft personnel.
• Strong written documentation, organizational, and recordkeeping skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced construction environment and make sound safety decisions in the field.
• Ability and willingness to maintain a consistent, hands‑on presence on an active construction site.

Preferred Qualifications

• OSHA 500 certification.
• CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician), CSP (Certified Safety Professional), or other recognized safety credential.
• CPR/First Aid certification.
• Experience working on large‑scale commercial, industrial, semiconductor, data center, manufacturing, or similarly complex construction projects.
• Experience working directly with General Contractor/client safety teams.
• Experience with incident investigation, root‑cause analysis, and corrective‑action programs.
• Experience with project safety management systems and electronic safety documentation platforms.
