Job summary

TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC in San Jose is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to help ensure the availability of our core TikTok services, including video playback and recommendations. You will work with a global team to monitor and improve system health, scale operations, and respond to incidents with postmortems.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering with Unix/Linux, Kubernetes, Docker, Nginx, and distributed systems design.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or above degree in Computer Science or related field with 2+ years in deploying large-scale distributed systems.
Open to graduates.
Strong Unix/Linux internals and administration, networking, storage, and databases.
Experience in programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, Go, Ruby, Rust, JavaScript.
Experience debugging and automating routine tasks.
Experience with Nginx, Kubernetes, Docker, OpenStack, Hadoop, Spark, Flink, Kafka.
Experience designing and analyzing large-scale distributed systems preferred.
Strong problem solving and communication.

Responsibilities

Gain a solid understanding of the components and services powering the TikTok experience.
Maintain services to meet SLAs and SLOs by measuring and monitoring availability, performance, and health.
Participate as part of a global team to support site-up issues ensuring reliability and scalability.
Scale systems sustainability through automation and improvements in reliability and velocity.
Provide user support, incident responses and postmortems.
