Job summary

Mars Petcare in Columbia, SC seeks a Site Laboratory Coordinator to lead the analytical testing program, ensuring GLP compliance, accurate data, and timely quality decisions. You will manage lab operations, supervise technicians, and uphold calibration and documentation standards.

The role focuses on methods deployment, proficiency testing, and collaboration with regional labs, QA/QFS managers, and external partners to maintain the site’s quality systems.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or higher in chemistry, microbiology, food science or related field.
• 1-3 years in a quality laboratory function in GMP environments preferred.
• Strong GLP and QMS knowledge and practical understanding.
• Experience with wet chemistry, weighing, titration and preparing volumetric solutions.
• Ability to follow procedures, methods and safety protocols meticulously.
• Attention to detail in data logs, calibrations, and record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Lead, train, and mentor lab technicians; oversee daily workflows and accuracy of analytical testing.
• Supervise physical/chemical tests using NIR, pH meters, water activity meters, ELISA/LFDs.
• Manage raw material sampling programs including aseptic sampling of bulk trucks, totes, bags.
• Provide first-level instrument troubleshooting and guidance on calculations.
• Maintain QMS, internal audits, CAPAs, and data integrity across the site lab.
