Meals on Wheels People at the Ambleside Center in Gresham is seeking a Site/Kitchen Coordinator to oversee in-person meal service for older adults, including menu planning, meal preparation, and supervising volunteers.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Associate Degree or certification in Culinary Arts preferred.
  • First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within six months.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee in-person meal service for older adults, including menu planning, meal preparation, and volunteer coordination.
  • Manage and supervise kitchen and dining volunteers; ensure accurate volunteer hours.

We are looking for a Site/Kitchen Coordinator to join our team at the Ambleside Center in Gresham. The Site/Kitchen Coordinator will be responsible for oversight of in-person meal service for older adults, including menu planning, meal preparation, volunteer coordination and supervision. Support supplemental nutrition program for home delivery and congregate clients and coordination of responsive services for food insecure populations.

General Summary

Responsible for oversight of in-person meal service for older adults, including menu planning, meal preparation, volunteer coordination and supervision. Support supplemental nutrition program for home delivery and congregate clients and coordination of responsive services for food insecure populations.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
  • Manage the safe and efficient preparation of senior dining services following all Meals on Wheels People Food Service Manual procedures and Health Department regulations.
  • Provide management and oversight of meal preparation, including menu planning, scratch cooking, ethnic meal preparation, and service for the home delivery program and senior dining.
  • Manage and maintain adequate levels of food and non-food items, ensuring products are safe, secure, and properly stored.
  • Establish a positive, welcoming atmosphere for all participants and volunteers.
  • Demonstrate person-centered, trauma-informed service practices and maintain respectful, professional, and compassionate interactions that promote participant dignity, safety, and well-being.
  • Assist Site Manager as necessary with responsive hunger relief services
    • Supplemental meals for clients with food insecurity
    • Meal services for partnerships and contracts
    • Ethnic meals
    • Cultural celebrations
    • Programming in response to isolation
  • Recruit, train and supervise kitchen and dining room volunteers and ensure all volunteer hours are accurately recorded in the volunteer tracking system.
  • Support volunteer engagement, appreciation, and recognition initiatives, including participation in annual volunteer events.
  • Maintain high kitchen standards in sanitation and safety in accordance with all regulations.
  • Assist with county health inspections, internal audits, and quarterly safety inspections,
  • Support responsible stewardship of program resources by monitoring food usage, inventory, waste reduction, and controllable expenses within established budget guidelines.
  • Complete eligibility assessments and reassessments for on-site meal participants.
  • Participate in in-service training and attend required meetings.
  • Engage with Meals on Wheels People's annual agency-wide events and fundraising initiatives.
  • Support the mission, goals, and objectives of Meals on Wheels People, Inc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Education & Knowledge
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Associate Degree or certification in Culinary Arts preferred.
  • Current Food Handler's card or ability to obtain one upon hire.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of food service standards.
  • First Aid and CPR certified or ability to obtain within six months.
Skills, Abilities & Experience
  • Minimum one-year experience in food service; volume and scratch cooking preferred.
  • Bilingual/Bicultural English/Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Asian or African languages are strongly preferred and may qualify for an additional $1.00 per hour bilingual pay differential.
  • Ability to work with, manage and train volunteers.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and effectively communicate with diverse populations, including minorities, low income, and persons with disabilities.
  • Strong ability to problem-solve and implement solutions.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven recordkeeping and organizational skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills; familiarity with computer applications and MS Office; ability to learn new computer programs.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and 20-30 lbs. repetitively.

Any satisfactory combination of experience, training and/or education that ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute for the above qualifications.
