Job summary

Syngenta Seeds is seeking an HSE Lead for our Malta, IL site to steer the health, safety, and environmental strategy across office, field, greenhouse, and production settings. You’ll build a proactive safety culture, partner with operations and leadership, and translate regulatory requirements into practical processes that ensure safe, reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of HSE auditing, management, or operational safety experience.
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT requirements.
• Experience conducting audits, risk assessments, inspections, and root-cause investigations.
• Strong written and verbal communication, data analysis, and reporting; proficient with MS Office and SAP.

Responsibilities

• Lead the site HSE strategy, management system, compliance activities, and continuous improvement roadmap.
• Serve as trusted advisor to site leaders, employees, contractors, and regulators.
• Strengthen site safety culture through safety walks, training, recognition, and engagement.
• Lead risk assessments, inspections, audits, incident and near-miss investigations, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness, drills, environmental compliance, and contractor safety activities.
• Use HSE data and KPIs to identify priorities, communicate trends, and drive measurable improvement.
• Manage the site HSE budget and contribute to improvement and capital plans.
• This position comprises regular work across office, operational, field, greenhouse, and production settings, with occasional travel and non-standard hours.
