Job summary

Syngenta in Malta, IL seeks an HSE Lead to guide the site's health, safety and environmental strategy, build a proactive safety culture, and partner with operations, research, production, facilities, and site leadership.

You will translate regulatory and company requirements into clear processes, conduct risk assessments, and drive continuous improvement while ensuring regulatory compliance and safe, reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of HSE auditing, management, or operational safety experience.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT requirements and regulatory interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the site HSE strategy, management system, compliance activities, and continuous improvement roadmap.
• Serve as trusted advisor to site leaders, employees, contractors, and regulatory stakeholders.
• Strengthen site safety culture through safety walks, training, recognition, and engagement.
• Lead risk assessments, inspections, audits, investigations, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness, drills, environmental compliance, and contractor safety activities.
• Use HSE data and KPIs to identify priorities and drive improvements.
• Manage the site HSE budget and contribute to plans.
