Job summary

Hudbay is seeking a Sr. Health & Safety Specialist to lead the operational safety program at the Copper World site in Helvetia, AZ.

You will drive proactive hazard prevention, ensure MSHA/OSHA compliance, and mentor site Health & Safety Technicians while aligning with the Safety Manager’s strategy. The role emphasizes incident investigations, risk mitigation, and field readiness across mining, processing, and construction activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field is required.
• 7+ years of professional health and safety experience in high-hazard industrial environments.
• Advanced Google Workspace Administrator skills.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise and mentor Health & Safety Specialists.
• Oversee daily field operations, conduct routine site audits, and identify hazards.
• Lead investigations for incidents and near-misses with formal root-cause analysis.
• Maintain MSHA and OSHA compliance; liaise during inspections and audits.
• Design risk management initiatives, emergency plans, and JSAs.
• Oversee site safety training including MSHA Part 48 certifications.
