Job summary

McConnell & Associates is seeking a Site Engineer Intern to provide hands-on field leadership on active construction projects in St. Louis.

Working under a Superintendent, you will coordinate subcontractors, support field execution, and learn site management practices. This internship offers exposure to safety standards, quality control, cost monitoring, and real-world progression toward full-time opportunities after graduation.

Qualifications

• Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Leadership & Work Ethic: Strong work ethic with a demonstrated ability to lead people and manage jobsite activities.
• Licensing & Driving Record: Valid driver’s license required. Relatively clean motor vehicle report (applicants with drug or alcohol driving offenses in the last three years will not be considered; other violations evaluated per insurance standards).
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills; bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
• Availability: Ability to work 40–50 hours per week, including weekends as needed.

• Monitor site-level cost control, quality standards, daily productivity, and schedule adherence.
• Operate skid steers and other equipment as needed to support site progress.

• Ensure strict adherence to company safety practices across all subcontractors and site personnel.
• Manage customer relations on‑site, including participating in pre‑job meetings and completing punch‑list items.
• Report directly to the Superintendent and provide regular site progress updates.

Position Overview
