Job summary

McConnell & Associates, a leading employee-owned civil and sports construction company, is seeking a Summer Construction Laborer in St. Louis, MO for May–August 2027.

You will work alongside experienced crews performing manual labor, site prep, and field operations across our divisions. This seasonal role offers hands-on field experience, opportunities to learn from seasoned crews, and a pathway to potential future full-time opportunities with MAC after graduation.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license; Class A CDL is a plus.
• Ability to perform physical labor and lift heavy objects.
• Availability to work 40–70 hours per week, including weekends.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual labor to support daily construction, paving, or surface maintenance tasks.
• Assist with site preparation, material staging, tool maintenance, and jobsite cleanup.
• Drive various sized company trucks to and from jobsites as authorized.
• Follow safety policies and work as part of a crew.

Position Overview

The Summer Construction Laborer position is designed for students looking to gain valuable hands‑on field experience during the summer construction season (May-August 2027). Working directly alongside experienced crews, this role performs manual labor, site preparation, and field operations across our specialized divisions.

• St. Louis, MO: Tennis Court Crew & Sealcoat Crew

Key Responsibilities

Field Operations & Labor

• Perform manual labor on the jobsite to support daily construction, paving, or surface maintenance tasks.
• Assist with site preparation, material staging, tool maintenance, and jobsite cleanup.
• Drive various sized company trucks to and from jobsites as authorized.

Safety & Professionalism

• Ensure safety is prioritized in all daily activities and follow all company safety policies.
• Report directly to your crew foreman and follow daily instructions efficiently.
• Maintain strict punctuality and a strong work ethic to keep projects on schedule.
• Support a culture of teamwork, accountability, and quality on every jobsite.

Skills & Qualifications

• Work Ethic: Strong work ethic with a genuine desire to succeed and learn.
• Licensing: Valid driver’s license required; Class A CDL is a plus.
• Driving Record: Relatively clean motor vehicle report. (Applicants with a drug or alcohol driving offense in the last three years will not be considered; other violations evaluated per insurance standards).
• Physical Demands: Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting heavy objects, standing/walking for extended periods, and working outdoors in summer weather conditions.
• Availability: Ability to work 40–70 hours per week, including weekends as needed.
• Languages: Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
