Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing in Spartanburg, SC is seeking a Site EHS Specialist to support Environmental, Health, and Safety programs and drive continuous improvement. You will work with plant leadership to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT and other regulations while fostering a proactive safety culture.

The role requires leading investigations, performing risk assessments, delivering training, and maintaining OSHA records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in safety, environment, engineering, or related field.
• OSHA 30-Hour Certification required; OSHA 511 preferred.
• Experience in audits, inspections, training, and investigations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable regulations.
• Develop, implement, maintain, and improve facility EHS programs, policies, procedures, and standards.
• Lead incident investigations, near-miss reviews, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.
• Deliver EHS training programs for employees, supervisors, contractors, and visitors.
• Maintain OSHA 300, 300A, and 301 recordkeeping requirements.
• Support workers’ compensation case management and return-to-work programs.
• Coordinate contractor safety management activities.
• Support emergency preparedness, evacuation planning, and emergency response activities.
• Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and HR to identify and mitigate workplace hazards.
• Track and report leading and lagging EHS performance indicators.
• Support ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and IATF 16949 management systems.
