Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Site Design Intern to join our civil site design team. You will apply coursework to land development projects ranging from small commercial pads to large subdivisions under the guidance of experienced engineers.

This internship offers hands-on experience with grading, drainage, utilities, and erosion control plans, exposure to AutoCAD Civil 3D, and collaboration with surveyors and planners. Travel to project sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in ABET-accredited undergraduate engineering program, preferably Civil Engineering.
• Effective verbal and written communication with clients, management, and design team members.
• Willingness to learn in a cross-disciplinary work environment.
• Willingness to attend site visits and work outdoors.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers in preparing grading, drainage, utility, and erosion control plans for residential and commercial site development projects.
• Perform preliminary stormwater and utility calculations to support site layout and infrastructure design.
• Prepare and revise construction plan sets, details, and specifications using AutoCAD Civil 3D under the guidance of Senior Engineers.
• Assist with permitting submittals to local jurisdictions, including responses to site plan review comments.
• Coordinate with surveyors, landscape architects, and planners to integrate site design with overall development plans.
• Travel to project sites to observe existing conditions and support construction administration activities as needed.
