About Rune

Every solar and wind power plant is a latent data center. Rune connects wasted power to the compute that needs it. Solar plants generate electricity the grid can't take: clipped by inverters, curtailed by operators, gone before it ever reaches a meter. Meanwhile, AI needs more power than new construction can deliver in time.

Rune deploys hardware, software, and financial solutions to put this power to work. We build modular micro data centers that install directly at solar sites, bypassing the traditional grid entirely and turning stranded power into compute. We’re backed by Spark Capital, Union Square Ventures, and Lowercarbon Capital.

The Role

As the Site Deployment Manager at Rune, you will lead the field execution of our RELIC deployments and serve as the critical link to our field operations teams. You will be responsible for ensuring that each deployment is completed safely, on schedule, and to Rune’s quality standards.

You will lead the field operations team and coordinate activities among site owners, contractors, vendors, delivery partners, and internal stakeholders. Following deployment, you will help ensure site uptime by coordinating planned maintenance and emergency responses to equipment failures or outages.

This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, comfortable leading teams in the field, and able to solve complex operational problems in fast-moving deployment environments.

Key Responsibilities
Deployment Execution
  • Own onsite execution from initial site mobilization through installation, commissioning, and operations
  • Translate engineering plans, schedules, and installation requirements into clear daily field activities
  • Coordinate field personnel, contractors, equipment, materials, and site resources to support on-time installation
  • Track deployment progress, risks, and open issues while providing clear updates to company leadership
Field Operations Leadership
  • Lead Rune’s field operations team during deployments, maintenance activities, and emergency responses
  • Establish daily work plans and ensure responsibilities, priorities, and expectations are clearly communicated
  • Hold field personnel and contractors accountable for safety, quality, productivity, and professional conduct
  • Ensure teams have the tools, materials, information, and support required to execute effectively
  • Capture lessons learned and work with engineering to improve future products, procedures, and deployments
Site Logistics And Coordination
  • Serve as Rune’s primary onsite point of coordination among site owners, field personnel, contractors, vendors, and logistics providers
  • Coordinate site access, work hours, safety orientations, deliveries, unloading, staging, storage, and equipment placement
  • Ensure labor, equipment, contractors, and materials are available when required by the deployment schedule
  • Coordinate overlapping work scopes to prevent conflicts, delays, unsafe conditions, and rework
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professionally managed deployment site
Safety And Quality
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across Rune personnel, contractors, and vendors
  • Ensure compliance with Rune standards, site-owner requirements, approved work practices, and applicable safety regulations
  • Lead or coordinate daily safety briefings, pre-task planning, and job hazard assessments
  • Verify installations against technical requirements, checklists, and quality standards
  • Document and drive resolution of installation deficiencies before commissioning
Site Reliability And Emergency Response
  • Coordinate planned maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and equipment replacements following deployment
  • Lead the field response to equipment failures, degraded performance, and site outages
  • Mobilize the appropriate personnel, contractors, vendors, tools, and replacement components during an incident
  • Maintain clear communication with internal teams and site owners throughout emergency response activities
  • Participate in incident reviews and incorporate corrective actions into operating procedures and future deployments
Ideal Qualifications
  • Required: 5+ years of experience in field operations, industrial construction, data center deployment, renewable energy, electrical infrastructure, or a related environment
  • Proven experience leading field teams, contractors, and multiple concurrent work scopes
  • Demonstrated ability to manage site logistics, equipment deliveries, installation schedules, and operational handoffs
  • Strong understanding of jobsite safety, quality control, contractor management, and field documentation
  • Ability to read and work from construction drawings, electrical one-lines, equipment layouts, and technical specifications
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills with consistent attention to detail and follow-through
  • Ability to make practical, safety-conscious decisions in fast-moving field environments
  • Willingness to travel frequently and support time-sensitive site issues when required
  • Experience with compute infrastructure, power systems, cooling systems, networking, controls, or commissioning is a plus
  • OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, PMP, or similar certifications are a plus
What We Offer
  • Competitive base and strategic ownership in what we believe will be one of the largest infrastructure build-outs of the decade.
