Jobtailor seeks an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to lead civil/site design across commercial, industrial, and residential sectors. You will oversee project planning, resource allocation, and documentation from concept through construction, coordinating with clients and agencies to ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Urban Planning.
  • 10-13 years of experience in civil/site design, land use planning, or project management.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license or AICP certification.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D (2014 or later), and HydroCAD (or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of local, state, and federal environmental permitting processes and land use regulations.
  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary project teams, with a focus on site/civil and environmental projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • High level of creativity, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills.
  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Planning, or a related field preferred
  • LEED or ENV SP certification or experience in sustainable design practices preferred
  • Experience in stormwater management, hydrologic modeling, and erosion control design preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of construction cost estimating and project budgeting preferred
  • Strong background in project bidding, proposal preparation, and client presentations preferred
  • Experience in preparing technical proposals and project bids for public and private sector projects preferred
  • Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of continuous learning preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, coordination, and execution of civil engineering projects across commercial, industrial, and residential sectors
  • Manage and execute engineering design tasks for civil/site development projects from conceptual design through construction documentation
  • Develop project plans, allocate resources, and establish project schedules
  • Lead preparation of site/civil construction documents, including site layouts, grading plans, stormwater management systems, and erosion control plans
  • Develop technical specifications, cost opinions, and project reports
  • Serve as primary contact for clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders
  • Provide technical guidance, resolve design conflicts, and address project requirements
  • Manage preparation and submission of environmental permitting documents
  • Oversee applications for land use permits, stormwater management plans, and environmental impact assessments
  • Manage and mentor project staff and junior engineers
  • Apply site/civil design skills using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, HydroCAD, and other engineering software
  • Conduct quality control reviews of project deliverables
  • Integrate sustainable design principles, including LEED and ENV SP guidelines, where applicable
  • Analyze project risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Make project decisions related to cost implications, technical feasibility, and schedules
