Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior Civil/Urban Project Manager to lead design, coordination, and execution of civil/site projects across commercial, industrial, and residential sectors in Massachusetts.

You will manage design tasks from concept through construction documents, develop project plans, allocate resources, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring regulatory compliance and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Urban Planning.
  • 10-13 years of experience in civil/site design, land use planning, or project management.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license or AICP certification.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D (2014 or later), and HydroCAD (or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of local, state, and federal environmental permitting processes and land use regulations.
  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary project teams, with a focus on site/civil and environmental projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Planning, or a related field (preferred).
  • LEED or ENV SP certification or experience in sustainable design practices (preferred).
  • Experience in stormwater management, hydrologic modeling, and erosion control design (preferred).
  • Advanced knowledge of construction cost estimating and project budgeting (preferred).
  • Strong background in project bidding, proposal preparation, and client presentations (preferred).
  • Experience in preparing technical proposals and project bids for public and private sector projects (preferred).
  • Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of continuous learning (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, coordination, and execution of civil engineering projects across commercial, industrial, and residential sectors.
  • Manage and execute engineering design tasks from conceptual design through construction documentation
  • Develop project plans, allocate resources, and establish project schedules
  • Lead preparation of site/civil construction documents, including site layouts, grading plans, stormwater management systems, and erosion control plans
  • Develop technical specifications, cost opinions, and project reports
  • Serve as primary point of contact for clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders
  • Provide technical guidance, resolve design conflicts, and address project requirements
  • Prepare and submit environmental permitting documents
  • Oversee land use permit applications, stormwater management plans, and environmental impact assessments
  • Manage and mentor project staff and junior engineers
  • Apply site/civil design skills using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, HydroCAD, and other engineering software
  • Conduct quality control reviews of project deliverables
  • Integrate sustainable design principles, including LEED and ENV SP guidelines, where applicable
  • Analyze project risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Make project decisions related to costs, technical feasibility, and schedules
  • Manage client relationships and ensure quality, regulatory compliance, and client satisfaction
