HDR is currently seeking a Site Civil Engineer for our Building Engineering Services Business Group located in Missouri in either our Kansas City or St. Louis office. Our team is an integrated facility and infrastructure design team consisting of core services of Mechanical, Electrical, Structural and Site Civil Engineering. This person will be part of an integrated team responsible for the design of facilities related sites supporting various markets including Healthcare, Water/Wastewater, Municipal, Industrial, Federal, and Mission Critical buildings and infrastructure. They will coordinate closely with a multidisciplinary design team throughout the project lifecycle, from planning to construction administration. Experience in site development and the design of building-related civil site elements (grading, utilities, storm drainage, stormwater management, erosion control) is preferred. The individual should be self-motivated, collaborative, and possess strong leadership skills with an initiative to deliver high-quality, technically sound civil site designs.

Primary Responsibilities

In this role, you'll be expected to:

• Design and produce plans for civil projects, including site layouts, grading, drainage, paving, and utilities
• Perform quantity calculations
• Prepare specifications and contract documents
• Coordinate with jurisdictional authorities for permitting reviews
• Exercise judgment in evaluating, selecting, and modifying engineering techniques and procedures
• Make significant design and engineering decisions as needed
• Function as Project Manager or Engineer as required
• Oversee work of other professionals and technicians
• Prepare and review scope of work, budgets, and estimates for proposals
• Establish client relations and participate in marketing, contractual, design, and production meetings
• Manage financial aspects of projects and coordinate work efforts to meet schedules
• Perform other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D
• Experience with modeling software such as Hydraflow Storm Sewers, HydroCAD, Bentley StormCAD, etc.
• Experience with an architectural/engineering consulting firm is desirable
• Local candidates preferred
• At least 4 years of civil engineering experience covering site design, grading, utilities, and stormwater management
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering

Required Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Hands-on experience with civil engineering software such as InRoads, Hecras, etc.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
