Duties & Responsibilities:
VCU School of Nursing invites applicants to apply for the positionof Simulation Technician. The Simulation Technician will coordinate the activities of the Clinical Learning Center in order to support simulation experiences in the SON.
Responsibilities Include:
- Consults with CLC Director or Assistant Director to identifylevel of simulation support needed for planned CLC events.
- Maintain readiness of all simulation equipment through repair,maintenance and/or facilitation of vendor services.
- Perform and/or facilitate software updates regularly on allsimulation equipment.
- Maintain inventory through, tracking supply levels, orderingneeded supplies, and collaborating with the CLC Director to staywithin budget.
- Collaborates with CLC Director to manage CLC requests,calendar, and room schedule
- Set-up for simulation and other CLC events accurately andtimely.
- Provide technical support for computer-based multimedia systemsand components and other technical equipment as needed.
- Running or assisting with simulation scenarios as needed.
- Clean-up and reset of simulation rooms.
- Ensure the simulation supply room is orderly and products arerotated and noted for expiration dates.
- Support simulation and other CLC events by assisting simulationfacilitators with multimedia systems, operation of technicalequipment, restocking and turnover between scenarios, and assistwith the facilitation of standardized patient simulations.
- Sign off/complete assigned projects, to include regular teamupdates and communication, within agreed timeline.
- Engage in ongoing professional development through attendanceat conferences, participation in professional organizations,educational opportunities, etc.
- Work collaboratively as a member of the CLC simulationteam.
- Attend and actively contribute to CLC and School of Nursingmeetings and events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Flexible schedule to match needs of CLC each semester.
- May include Saturdays or evening hours.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree in related field, or equivalent education,training, and experience.
- Experience working with simulation technology, computers, ormedical equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting technical issues and applyingproblem-solving skills to resolve them.
- Experience with event planning, coordination, orproduction.
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environmentof respect, professionalism and civility with a population offaculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences,or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalentcombination of training and experience
- Previous simulation and/or IT experience
- Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHOS)certification
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support InstructorCertification, or willingness to obtain
- Working knowledge of simulation technology and hands-onexperience working in a simulation environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of simulator software.
- Familiar with the operation and troubleshooting of allsimulation and skills lab equipment, including but not limited to mannequins, laptops, PYXIS, ophthalmoscopes, otoscopes, IV pumps,vital sign machines.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, staffand students to provide technical support in computer systemoperations and technology.
