Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. invites applications for a Simulation Engineer within the Uncrewed Systems group.

The role focuses on developing and executing a digital twin modeling and simulation environment for autonomous vessels, integrating vehicle hardware with simulation software to advance autonomy solutions. The position requires building hydrodynamic models, creating virtual testbeds, and supporting HWIL simulations across multiple projects.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years with Masters or High School Diploma with 6 years relevant experience.
• Demonstrated C++/Python development experience.
• Linux system use and programming.
• Ocean/Marine engineering knowledge: hydrostatics, hydrodynamics, marine vessels.
• Ability to integrate hardware and software in the loop with simulation environment.

Responsibilities

• Develops new and/or integrates existing system simulation frameworks, performance models and algorithms.
• Develops software that simulates behavior of users and systems.
• Performs trade studies via computer simulation and provides decision support for alternative architectures.
• Create/enhance virtual worlds for fully integrated mission simulation.
• Set-up, perform, and analyze HWIL simulations to support various projects and applications.
