Job summary

Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking a certified Group Fitness Instructor for Silver Sneakers/Active Older Adults classes. The role focuses on engaging members through well-crafted routines and a culture of health.

You will motivate attendees, maintain safety, and deliver high-quality group exercise experiences. Responsibilities include leading classes, preparing routines, and providing excellent member service while safeguarding everyone’s well-being.

Qualifications

• 18+ years of age and high school diploma or equivalent.
• YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification with experience or National certification (1)
• Certification in Silver Sneakers or Active Older Adults Group Exercise

Responsibilities

• Set an example of healthy living and personal fitness.
• Prepare routines and/or choreography within YMCA standards.
• Provide support and encouragement to members and reinforce healthy lifestyles.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of members and staff; notify supervisor of safety hazards.
• Provide excellent service to all members and notify supervisor of member needs.
• Ensure that safe movement and technique is utilized by every member in all classes.
• Maintain knowledge of emergency and safety procedures and incident records.

What is needed for this job as our Group Fitness Instructor:

• 18+ years of age and high school diploma or equivalent
• YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification with experience or National certification (1)
• Certification in Silver Sneakers or Active Older Adults Group Exercise
• Exhibit strong leadership skills; possess a passion for member service, building and maintaining a culture of member service excellence

The responsibilities we will trust you with as our Group Fitness Instructor:

• Prepare routines and/or choreography within YMCA standards
• Provide support and encouragement to members and reinforce healthy lifestyles
• Ensure the safety and well-being of members and staff. Notify supervisor of any safety hazards or concerns within the facility
• Provide excellent service to all members and notify supervisor of member needs, supplies or other items needed to ensure program quality and member satisfaction
• Ensure that safe movement and technique is utilized by every member in all classes
• Maintain knowledge of emergency and safety procedures and maintain records on any incidents
