Job summary

The Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking a certified Floor and Chair Yoga Group Fitness Instructor who loves what they do and understands that a class can engage a member like nothing else. An instructor who connects with members in class to inspire healthier living is a perfect fit.

The role emphasizes leadership, safety, and delivering high‑quality yoga sessions while supporting a diverse member community and maintaining YMCA standards.

Qualifications

• 18+ years of age and high school diploma or equivalent.
• YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification with experience or National certification (1).
• Certification in Floor and Chair Yoga.

Responsibilities

• Set an example of healthy living and personal fitness.
• Prepare routines and choreography within YMCA standards.
• Provide support and encouragement to members and reinforce healthy lifestyles.
• Ensure the safety and well‑being of members and staff; notify supervisor of hazards.
• Provide excellent service to all members and inform supervisor of needs for class quality.
• Maintain safe movement and technique in all classes; follow emergency procedures.

What is needed for this job as our Group Fitness Instructor:

• 18+ years of age and high school diploma or equivalent
• YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification with experience or National certification (1)
• Certification in Floor and Chair Yoga
• Exhibit strong leadership skills; possess a passion for member service, building and maintaining a culture of member service excellence

The responsibilities we will trust you with as our Group Fitness Instructor:

• Set an example of healthy living and personal fitness
• Prepare routines and/or choreography within YMCA standards
• Provide support and encouragement to members and reinforce healthy lifestyles
• Ensure the safety and well-being of members and staff. Notify supervisor of any safety hazards or concerns within the facility
• Provide excellent service to all members and notify supervisor of member needs, supplies or other items needed to ensure program quality and member satisfaction
• Ensure that safe movement and technique is utilized by every member in all classes
• Maintain knowledge of emergency and safety procedures and maintain records on any incidents
