Job summary

Haverford Area YMCA is seeking a certified group fitness instructor to lead engaging classes at the Havertown location. The role emphasizes transforming lives through community fitness and strong member connections.

You will plan routines, motivate participants, and promote healthy lifestyles while ensuring a safe class environment. Eligible applicants are 18+, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification or national certification.

Qualifications

• Certified group fitness instructor
• Experience with group exercise classes preferred
• Strong leadership and member service skills
• Ability to motivate and engage participants of varying fitness levels

Responsibilities

• Model healthy living and personal fitness in classes
• Plan routines and choreography within YMCA standards
• Encourage and support members to adopt healthy lifestyles
• Ensure safety and wellbeing of members and staff; report hazards
• Deliver excellent service and respond to member needs for class quality
• Monitor safe movement and technique in all classes
• Maintain knowledge of emergency procedures and incident reporting

What is needed for this job:

• 18 years of age and high school diploma or equivalent.
• YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification with experience or National certification.
• Exhibit strong leadership skills; possess a passion for member service, building and maintaining a culture of member service excellence

The responsibilities we will trust you with:

• Set an example of healthy living and personal fitness.
• Prepare routines and/or choreography within YMCA standards.
• Provide support and encouragement to members and reinforce healthy lifestyles.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of members and staff. Notify supervisor of any safety hazards or concerns within the facility.
• Provide excellent service to all members and notify supervisor of member needs, supplies or other items needed to ensure program quality and member satisfaction.
• Ensure that safe movement and technique is utilized by every member in all classes.
• Maintain knowledge of emergency and safety procedures and maintain records on any incidents.
