Job summary

Columbia North YMCA in Philadelphia is seeking a certified group fitness instructor to lead engaging classes and inspire healthier living. You’ll guide routines, motivate members, and uphold safety standards in a friendly, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Certification required: YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise or national certification.
• Strong leadership and a passion for member service excellence.
• Ability to plan routines and choreography within YMCA standards.

Responsibilities

• Set an example of healthy living and personal fitness.
• Prepare routines and/or choreography within YMCA standards.
• Provide support and encouragement to members and reinforce healthy lifestyles.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of members and staff; notify supervisor of safety hazards or concerns.
• Provide excellent service to all members and notify supervisor of member needs.
• Ensure safe movement and technique in all classes.
• Maintain knowledge of emergency and safety procedures.

What is needed for this job:

• 18+ years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent
• YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification with experience or National certification
• Exhibit strong leadership skills; possess a passion for member service, building and maintaining a culture of member service excellence

The responsibilities we will trust you with:

• Set an example of healthy living and personal fitness
• Prepare routines and/or choreography within YMCA standards
• Provide support and encouragement to members and reinforce healthy lifestyles
• Ensure the safety and well-being of members and staff. Notify supervisor of any safety hazards or concerns within the facility
• Provide excellent service to all members and notify supervisor of member needs, supplies or other items needed to ensure program quality and member satisfaction
• Ensure that safe movement and technique is utilized by every member in all classes
• Maintain knowledge of emergency and safety procedures and maintain records on any incidents
