Job summary

GlobalFoundries Fab 8 is offering an internship to support the silicon photonics input/output integration team, contributing to process integration across development, customer engagement, qualification, and production readiness.

As an intern, you will receive one-on-one mentorship, work assignments focused on growth, and opportunities to network with executives in a fast-paced semiconductor environment. This role requires a sophomore student pursuing a relevant degree and English fluency.

Qualifications

• Sophomore status at application time and pursuing Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Solid State Physics, Photonics, Optics, or related field.
• Must have at least a 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing.
• English language fluency (written & verbal).
• Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with device, process module, packaging, test, and integration teams to develop and drive silicon photonics input/output solutions.
• Learn integration module ownership while supporting development and qualification of silicon photonics input/output processes and structures.
• Assist with analysis of process, device, and yield data to identify trends, document results, and support technical problem solving.
• Support project execution through experiment tracking, status communication, and preparation of technical summaries for cross-functional stakeholders.
