Job summary

GlobalFoundries seeks a Silicon Photonics Device Engineering Intern to support development and qualification of silicon photonic devices for high-speed interconnects and sensing.

The role focuses on analyzing in-line data and electrical/optical measurements to identify opportunities to improve device performance, variability, and manufacturability, while gaining mentorship and exposure to advanced semiconductor processes.

Qualifications

• Education – At least a sophomore at time of application and actively pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Materials Engineering, Photonics, Optics, Physics, or related field through an accredited degree program during the time of internship.
• Must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing.
• Language Fluency - English (Written & Verbal)
• Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship.

Responsibilities

• Analyze in-line process, electrical, and optical measurement trends for silicon photonic devices.
• Support evaluation of process or device-design improvements intended to reduce variability and improve optical and electrical performance.
• Assist with identifying measurements that better predict final silicon photonic device figures of merit and with enabling updated tests for new test structures.
• Perform data mining, correlation, and statistical analysis across process, electrical, and optical datasets; document methods and communicate findings through technical reviews.
