Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Thermal Mechanical Test Engineer for Silicon Packaging (STARLINK) in Texas. You will build thermal and mechanical models, run simulations, and oversee test campaigns to ensure package reliability for high-volume Starlink hardware.

You will characterize heat flow, junction temperatures, and system performance while coordinating with packaging, silicon design, and manufacturing teams to translate insights into production improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, math, or science.
• 1+ years of thermal or mechanical modeling and testing experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and run thermal and mechanical FE models and simulations.
• Design, set up, and execute thermal/mechanical test campaigns.
• Characterize package and board thermal performance and validate models.
• Collaborate with packaging, hardware design, and manufacturing teams to drive reliability.
• Support new package and board designs through testing and data reporting.
• Analyze test data and correlate simulations with empirical results.
• Work with cross-functional teams to integrate test insights into production.
• Extend test capabilities with new equipment and process improvements.
