Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals seeks a senior laboratory supervisor to oversee cytogenetics and full-service lab operations. You will lead staff, manage workflows, and ensure timely, accurate test reporting while maintaining SOPs and quality controls.

Requirements include relevant degree, national certifications, active licensure where required, and 4 years of MT/MLT/CT/HTL experience. The role emphasizes staff development, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a lab science or related field is required.
• Current licensure as required by the state of services (WV HCTP/Cytotechnologist/Histotechnologist).
• Four (4) years of experience as MT/MLT/Histotechnologist/Cytotechnologist preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all lab areas and ensure adequate staffing.
• Orient new staff and participate in performance appraisals.
• Coordinate specimen handling and reference lab routing.
• Coordinate LIS downtime activities with technical staff.
• Maintain SOPs and department policies; ensure safety compliance.
• Monitor quality control and corrective actions; ensure timely test results.
• Communicate with Medical Directors and managers on issues and improvements.
