Job summary

The role requires communication via sign language, fingerspelling, gestures, and speech. Applicants must have a high school diploma equivalent, state assessment scores, and a valid California driver’s license, plus First Aid/CPR within six months.

Qualifications

• Any combination of education equivalent to a high school diploma.
• Must have achieved a minimum score of 4.0 on the EIPA/ESSE-I/R or NAD/ACCI assessment.
• Sign Language Interpreter Certification or equivalent as listed above.
• Possess an appropriate California Driver’s License with evidence of insurability.
• First Aid and CPR Certification within six (6) months of employment.
• Certification (Sign language interpreter Certification).
• Letter of Introduction.
• Proof of HS Graduation.
• Resume.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpreting and instructional support for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across general education classrooms, special day classrooms, and school activities.
• Communicate using sign language, fingerspelling, natural gestures, and speech with students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
• May be assigned to substitute in absence of the primary teacher if holding an Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit or Teaching Credential.
