Job summary

Limestone County Board of Education is seeking a Sign Language Interpreter to provide access to classroom instruction and school activities for Deaf and hard of hearing students. The interpreter will render communication using ASL/PSE, support IEP/504 plans, and collaborate with teachers and staff.

The role requires an ALBIT license, adherence to RID/FERPA/IDEA standards, and a commitment to confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current ALBIT license/permit required.

Responsibilities

• Provide expressive and voice interpreting (ASL, PSE, or other as per IEP/504/Communication Plan).
• Assist student with reviewing instructional content and note-taking when interpreting not needed.
• Participate as IEP team member, advise on communication access needs, and assist in IEP development and review.
• Provide interpreting for academic classes and school events during regular hours; after-hours events may be arranged with notice.
