Job summary

Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) seeks an Instructor, Sign Language - Adjunct to provide quality instruction in basic to advanced sign language, supporting student success and a diverse learning environment. Responsibilities include developing learner-centered lesson plans, employing varied teaching strategies and technology, maintaining student records, and adhering to college policies.

Requires Bachelor’s degree and RID/ASLTA certification; two years’ sign language interpreting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a concentration in Interpreting/American Sign Language/Deaf Studies & Deaf Education Discipline.
  • National certification from RID or ASLTA certification.
  • Two years’ experience as a sign language interpreter.

Responsibilities

  • Teach sign language with learner-centered lesson planning and diverse learning strategies.
  • Incorporate technology, distance learning, and varied instructional materials.
  • Maintain student records and adhere to college policies and deadlines.
  • Provide quality instruction and participate in professional development and department activities.
