Job summary

University of New Mexico's Center for Teaching and Learning seeks a Supplemental Instruction Leader to support SLA through planning and leading weekly tutoring sessions in undergraduate courses. The SIL will work with CTL staff and faculty to foster engagement and learning.

Applicants must be enrolled in at least 6 credits, maintain a 3.0 GPA, and be available 12–15 hours weekly, including pre-semester trainings and Friday sessions.

Qualifications

  • Enrollment in a minimum of 6 credit hours at UNM in a degree-seeking program.
  • Availability of 12-15 hours per week.
  • Attendance at pre-semester trainings.
  • Attendance at weekly trainings on Fridays.
  • Flexible schedule for occasional evening shifts.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and instruct weekly small-group tutoring sessions tailored to improve metacognitive skills.
  • Participate in weekly professional development trainings for effective tutoring.
  • Attend class for assigned course sections and collaborate with faculty to boost participation.
  • Assess student needs and refer to CTL services as appropriate.
  • Serve as liaison between academic departments and CTL SI services.
  • Perform administrative responsibilities per CTL and UNM policy.
