Qualifications

Job description

Schedule: Full-time; open availability including weekends and holidays is required.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Shuttle Driver – Zipline safely transports guests between Kualoa Ranch’s main visitor area and the zipline tour site while delivering friendly, informative, and culturally respectful service. This role ensures all transportation activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in alignment with Kualoa’s commitment to exceptional guest experiences.

The Shuttle Driver serves as one of the first and last points of contact for zipline guests helping to organize groups, verify forms, and share Kualoa’s stories and values along the way. This role embodies Kualoa’s guiding principles of Aloha, Mālama, Poʻokela, ʻOhana, and Laulima, representing the Ranch with professionalism and aloha in every interaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Guest Interaction & Experience

• Greet and organize zipline guests with warmth, patience, and professionalism.
• Verify completion of Participant Agreement / Assumption of Risk forms and confirm guests meet size and safety requirements.
• Provide engaging narration during transport, highlighting Kualoa’s history, land stewardship, and cultural significance.
• Uphold Kualoa Ranch’s brand and values in all guest interactions.

Transportation & Safety

• Safely operate Kualoa Ranch vehicles along established routes between the main ranch and the zipline course.
• Drive confidently on dirt roads, maintaining awareness of passengers, road conditions, and other vehicles.
• Follow all internal driving procedures and comply with State of Hawaiʻi transportation regulations.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and immediately report mechanical or safety issues.

Vehicle Maintenance & Readiness

• Conduct daily vehicle checks, including oil, fluids, tire pressure, and lights.
• Refuel and clean vehicles (interior and exterior) at the end of each shift.
• Communicate any maintenance needs promptly to the Fleet or Maintenance teams.
• Maintain accurate mileage and maintenance logs.

Teamwork & Communication

• Collaborate with Zipline Guides and Leads to ensure smooth guest flow and timing.
• Communicate clearly with dispatch and management regarding schedules, delays, or safety concerns.
• Support the Zipline team as needed with guest organization, equipment transport, or light field assistance.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid Hawaiʻi driver’s license with a minimum of 3 years of driving experience.
• Clean driver’s abstract from the DMV.
• Proficient in driving both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic maintenance tasks.
• Excellent communication and guest engagement skills.
• Demonstrated honesty, integrity, and responsibility.
• Ability to perform physical tasks and repetitive duties for extended periods.
• Comfortable driving in off-road conditions and in varying weather (wet, hot, humid, and dusty environments).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to sit for long periods while driving and assist guests entering/exiting vehicles.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform basic cleaning or maintenance tasks.
• Comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and terrain.
