Job Description
The Courtesy Shuttle Driver safely transports guests between Daniel K Inouye International Airport and the Lāna‘i Air private hangar, providing a seamless high-quality transfer and excellent customer service. Vehicles may vary in size up to 13-passenger seat Sprinters. The driver communicates with the System Operation and Reservation Coordinator to ensure smooth pick-up and drop-off and delivers authentic Hawaiian hospitality.

$23.45 per hour (non‑exempt)

Reports to: Ramp Operations Manager
Coordinates with: Lāna‘i Air Team – System Operation & Reservation Coordinators and Honolulu Guest Service Screening Agents

Responsibilities
- Operate vehicles safely in accordance with traffic laws and regulations.
- Assist passengers in boarding and disembarking, opening and closing doors.
- Load and unload luggage, handling fragile or delicate items.
- Regulate air conditioning, lights, and ventilation for passenger comfort.
- Report delays, accidents, or incidents to the Operations Team via mobile phone.
- Inspect vehicles daily, pre‑trip and post‑trip for safety and cleanliness.
- Perform pre‑shift checklist: vehicle brakes, tires, windshields, wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water supply.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness; smoking not permitted in or around vehicles.
- Report mechanical problems to the operations team with appropriate documentation.
- Record readings and information as required by policy.
- Fill out accident reports when necessary.
- Communicate effectively with Operations in Honolulu to coordinate guest arrival, departure, and transfer details.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High‑school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in the hospitality industry.
- Luxury chauffeur experience highly desirable.
- Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, Internet, SMS and related software a plus.
- Fluency in English, both verbal and written; bilingual preferred.
- Highest level of professionalism and customer‑service orientation.
- Detail‑oriented, good judgment, commonsense approach.
- Positive attitude; ability to work under changing conditions.
- Team‑work capability and cross‑department collaboration.
- Accountability and responsibility for tasks.
- Adaptability to shifting priorities due to flight schedules.
- Problem‑solving skills and resource identification for irregular operations.
Required Work Cards / Certifications
- Valid Hawaii driver’s license and clean driver abstract.
- Pass Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination.
- Obtain AOA badge and ramp license from the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation.
Physical Requirements
Regular tasks include sitting, talking, hearing, standing, walking, using hands, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close, distant, and color vision. Occasional operation of tools or controls is required.
