Job summary

Federal Express Corporation in New York seeks a shuttle operator to load/unload aircraft, sort packages, and support daily logistics operations.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, be at least 21, and able to lift 50 lbs with or without assistance. Training provided; English proficiency required; shifts include early mornings.

• Must be licensed for type of equipment assigned.
• Able to lift and maneuver packages above 50 lbs with assistance.
• Able to read and speak English sufficiently for instructions.

Responsibilities

• Performs shuttle functions using a non-articulated vehicle, loading/unloading aircraft and sorting packages.
• Work schedule includes early morning shifts: Mon 6am-9am; Tue-Fri ~5:15am-9:30am.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to successfully complete all basic and recurrency training. Must be licensed for type of equipment assigned. Ability to maneuver packages of any weight above 50 lbs. With appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person. Ability to work with power and hand tools. Must meet qualifications as outlined in section 391 of the federal motor carrier safety regulations. Effectively communicate verbally in a time sensitive manner in noisy operations environment. Must be at least 21 years of age. Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to understand traffic signs, communicate with traffic safety officials and to respond to official inquiries and directions in accordance with FMCSA enforcement guidance.

Job Conditions

Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. FMCSA covered safety sensitive position. Medical exam required. Subject to regulatory alcohol & drug testing, which includes testing for marijuana, PCP, amphetamines, cocaine & opioids.
