Job description

Part-Time Bus Driver - Metropolitan Action Commission (MAC)

This is a Part-Time, Non-Civil Service position with the Metropolitan Action Commission (MAC). The position reports directly to the Head Start Transportation Manager and the Executive Director.

Note: Extensive background checks and random drug tests are required for all applicants.

Work Schedule

• Monday - Friday
• 6:45am - 10:45am or 11:30am - 3:30pm

Responsibilities

1. Drive for the Head Start program
2. Perform basic vehicle maintenance
3. Deliver meals to centers
4. Act as a bus monitor when needed
5. Transport children, parents, staff, and equipment safely and efficiently
6. Complete daily vehicle inspections and cleaning schedules
7. Follow loading and unloading procedures
8. Submit weekly inspection sheets
9. Attend meetings and training sessions
10. Adhere to agency policies and procedures
11. Complete assigned tasks promptly
12. Ensure children are always supervised by an adult
13. Assist with additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid Driver License with "F" Endorsement (For Hire Endorsement)
• Candidates with foreign credentials are encouraged to apply
• Must be able to drive a 14-passenger bus and other MAC vehicles
• Good driving record within the past three years
• Physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds, stand, and bend
• Knowledge of street and highway safety rules
• Ability to follow DHS rules and state laws when transporting preschool children

Additional Information

All MAC candidates will undergo a background check. Employees must be Tennessee residents or become residents within six months of employment.
