Job summary

RP Lumber Co. is seeking a Retail Manager to oversee all showroom activities at our Illinois location. You will supervise staff, manage inventory and merchandising, and uphold safety while driving sales and customer satisfaction.

In this role, you lead by example, mentor team members, and coordinate with the General Manager on training, scheduling, and reporting. A strong background in retail building materials and a capable leader with physical stamina is required.

Qualifications

• Leadership and problem solving skills with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
• Ability to manage a fast-paced retail environment, including weekends and holidays.
• Strong knowledge of retail building materials and hardware products.
• Ability to lift 50–100 pounds and perform physical work.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all retail showroom activities, including personnel, inventory, and equipment.
• Ensure excellent customer experience and safe showroom operations.
• Manage receiving, stocking, and merchandising of products.
• Lead and mentor team members; support General Manager in training and reporting.
• Monitor pricing, margins, inventory levels, and merchandising initiatives.
• Coordinate with yard and back office operations to ensure timely deliveries.
