Job summary

Northwest High School in Waukee, IA is seeking a part-time Show Choir Assistant to support the Head Show Choir Director and student performers after school hours.

You will assist rehearsals, help manage costumes and props, coordinate parent volunteers, and help organize show choir costumes and music for upcoming performances, invitational events, and district activities. This role requires a collaborative approach and a commitment to positive student development in a school setting.

• Must exhibit ethical practices and be a role model to students.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Duties to be assigned by the Head Show Choir Director
• Assist director with managing rehearsals and providing feedback to student participants that encourages skill development within a positive atmosphere
• Assist with maintaining the costume and prop inventory
• Assist with organizing parent volunteers for a variety of jobs (costumes, make-up & hair, chaperones, publicity).
• Assist with design/ordering show choir costumes and music
• Attend and supervise 3-5 show and/or jazz invitational/festival performances yearly
• Assist with needs related to the Show Choir/Jazz Choir Invitational hosted by the high school
• Collaborate with the Head Music Director to coordinate securing supplemental staff (choreographers, arrangers, clinicians, etc.)
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the District
