Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Company LP is seeking a shore-based Marine Tankerman to safely transfer barges, troubleshoot vessels, and perform routine barge maintenance. Travel includes the lower Ohio/Nashville, TN area with field work on barges, vessels, fleets, and terminals.

Strong safety focus and ability to work in all weather conditions are essential. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, MMC with Tankerman-PIC, TWIC, and USCG medical certificate.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must have own mode of transportation and be able to travel to work locations within ~200 miles of base (lower Ohio/Nashville, TN).
• A USCG Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with Tankerman-PIC (Barge) endorsement and a DL (dangerous liquid) qualification is required; also a USCG medical certificate.
• TWIC card within 2 weeks of employment is required.
• Must pass pre-employment drug test and background check.

Responsibilities

• Conduct barge transfers per MPC procedures and USCG regulations.
• Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on barges.
• Operate heater on hot oil barges; manage transfer phases.
• Maintain transfer records and timely documentation for office submission.
• Keep uniforms and equipment in good, clean condition for transfers.
• May audit transfers for third-party Tankerman and assist in training new Tankerman.
• Interface with customers per MPC policies and procedures.
• Participate in safety and training activities.
