Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation is seeking a shore-based Marine Tankerman to operate from the lower Ohio/Nashville, TN area. Tankermen will transfer barges, troubleshoot, and perform maintenance under MPC and USCG standards, working in all weather and remote locations.

The role requires MMC with Tankerman-PIC (Barge), TWIC, and a valid DL, plus a medical certificate. Travel within a ~200-mile radius and pre-employment screening are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must have own transportation and be able to travel within a 200-mile radius of the base location (lower Ohio/Nashville, TN).
• USCG Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with Tankerman-PIC (Barge) endorsement and dangerous liquid DL qualification; USCG medical certificate required.
• TWIC card required within 2 weeks of employment.
• Must pass pre-employment drug test and background check.

Responsibilities

• Conduct barge transfers per MPC procedures and USCG regulations.
• Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on barges.
• Proficient in all phases of barge transfers, including heater operation on hot oil barges.
• Maintain transfer records and compile reports for the office.
• Maintain uniforms and equipment; be ready for each transfer.
• May conduct transfer audits and assist in training new Tankermen.
• Interface with customers per MPC policies and procedures.
• Participate in safety and training activities.
