Pay: Starting at $25/hr., depending on experience

Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Shop Foreman, operates electric welding and acetylene welding apparatus to fuse metal parts using arc welding or oxy-acetylene methods.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate welding tools, cut, layout, fit, and weld sheet metal and other metals to fabricate or repair equipment.
• Receive daily tasks from the supervisor for specific projects or jobs.
• Read blueprints for specific job tasks.
• Repair equipment and perform plant maintenance using welding tools such as grinders, wire brushes, cutting torches, or discs.
• Fabricate parts using welding machines or oxy-acetylene torches.
• Lifting varying weights, occasionally up to 50 lbs., as required.
• Follow all safety policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations, wearing PPE as mandated.
• Possession of a Commercial Driver’s License Class B may be required.
• Perform minor maintenance on welding equipment and supplies.
• Conduct daily inspections of trucks with proper documentation.
• Maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times.
• Ensure reliable attendance.

Qualifications

Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily; reasonable accommodations may be provided for disabilities.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma/GED minimum.
• Technical training or certification in basic welding and fitting.
• State-approved welding certification preferred but not required.

Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of TIG, MIG, STICK welding techniques.
• Experience with welding tools and equipment.
• Material knowledge, especially metals and alloys.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and manuals.
• Effective communication skills.

Physical Requirements

Must meet physical demands such as lifting up to 50 lbs., working in various environments, and performing physical activities like bending, kneeling, and reaching.

Work Environment

Exposure to noise, fumes, gases, dust, and hazards typical of construction sites. PPE required at all times.
