Job summary

Airglas, part of Victor Sierra Aviation, is seeking a Shop Technician to support assembly, fabrication, and finishing of aviation components in a hands-on Anchorage shop. You will follow procedures, use hand and power tools, and maintain a clean, safe work area while meeting quality standards.

Ideal candidates bring a high school diploma and a hands-on background in manufacturing or aviation, with a strong detail orientation and reliability.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, mechanical, aviation, construction, or similar hands-on work preferred.
  • Ability to learn new tools, equipment, and processes.
  • Ability to accurately follow verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Dependable attendance and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to safely operate common hand and power tools.
  • Willingness to learn and take on a variety of shop responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assembly, fabrication, finishing, and other production-related tasks according to procedures and specifications.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely and effectively.
  • Measure, fit, drill, trim, sand, fasten, and assemble components.
  • Read and follow work instructions, drawings, and production documentation.
  • Inspect completed work for quality and proper fit and finish.
  • Identify and communicate quality concerns or production problems.
  • Maintain accurate production and job documentation.
  • Assist with material preparation, inventory, packaging, shipping, or other shop activities.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow safety procedures and quality standards.
  • Work collaboratively with other production team members to meet goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Shop Technician supports the manufacturing and assembly of high-quality aviation products and components in a hands-on shop environment. We are looking for someone who is reliable, hands-on, detail-oriented, and willing to learn. You do not need to know everything about aviation to succeed in this role. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Excellence Execution
  • Perform assembly, fabrication, finishing, and other production-related tasks according to established procedures and specifications.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely and effectively.
  • Measure, fit, drill, trim, sand, fasten, and assemble components as required.
  • Read and follow work instructions, drawings, specifications, and production documentation.
  • Inspect completed work for quality, accuracy, and proper fit and finish.
  • Identify and communicate quality concerns, material issues, or production problems.
  • Maintain accurate production and job documentation as required.
  • Assist with material preparation, inventory, packaging, shipping, or other shop activities as needed.

  • Properly use and maintain tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment.
  • Follow company safety procedures and quality standards.
  • Work collaboratively with other production team members to meet quality and production goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support shop and business operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous manufacturing, fabrication, mechanical, automotive, aviation, construction, or similar hands-on experience preferred.
  • Ability to learn new tools, equipment, and processes.
  • Ability to accurately follow verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
