  • Prepare bits for brazing and ensure components meet specs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following SOPs.
  • Operate grinders, sandblasters, hoists and other shop tools safely.
  • Follow documentation and management instructions to complete tasks on time.
  • Collaborate with team to maintain efficient workflow and address issues.

Job description

The Shop Technician I performs various shop functions to support the manufacturing of drill bits. This entry‑level role involves hands‑on tasks that ensure production runs smoothly, equipment remains in good working condition, and the work environment is safe and clean.

The Shop Technician I works under the supervision of the Shop Supervisor.

This is a fully onsite role with no relocation assistance provided.

Detailed Description
  • Perform sandblasting and grinding operations on drill bits and components.
  • Wash and clean bits, cutters, and cans to prepare them for subsequent manufacturing steps.
  • Paint drill bits and related components as required, adhering to quality standards.
  • Prepare bits, cutters, and brazing materials for the brazing process, ensuring all components meet production specifications.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by sweeping, removing debris, and following company cleanliness standards.
  • Operate grinders, sandblasters, hoists, and other typical shop tools and equipment in accordance with safety guidelines and company policies.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures.
  • Follow instructions provided by bit documentation and management, completing tasks and procedures accurately and on time.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow and address any issues promptly.
  • Perform other shop duties as required or assigned by management.
Job Requirements
  • Ability to operate standard shop equipment, including grinders, sandblasters, and hoists.
  • Good physical ability to bend, stoop, sit, walk, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Finger dexterity and visual acuity to handle precision work.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Willingness and availability to work overtime as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience with shop tools and manufacturing equipment.
  • Previous experience working in manufacturing or construction.
  • Experience in an oil field environment.

The Shop Technician I must work with an emphasis on safety for themselves and others including coworkers and third parties. The typical work environment will be in the shop or field which will require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals, and airborne particles.
