Job summary

RK Industries in Aurora, CO seeks a Shop Superintendent for Sheet Metal to lead a skilled team and own production from draw-to-delivery. You will set the tone on the shop floor, develop leaders, and drive on-time, quality fabrication and shipment of HVAC projects.

Qualifications

• 7 years of sheet metal experience required.
• Commercial HVAC production experience is a strong plus.
• Advanced knowledge of sheet metal shop operations.
• Proven success leading complex projects with multiple crews.

Responsibilities

• Maintain controlled shop production conditions and drive continuous improvement in quality and productivity.
• Read drawings and catch scope changes early; track shop drawing revisions.
• Direct employees through bundling, staging, and shipment of materials; coordinate with truckers.
• Ensure shop labor costs and timecards are allocated accurately.
• Coordinate with the VDC team so work packages flow into production.
• Partner with PMs, field personnel, schedulers, and order processors to deliver on time.
• Assist the Shop Operations Manager with hiring, evaluations, and terminations.

What You’ll Lead

• Maintain controlled conditions across all shop production activities and drive continuous improvement in process, quality, and productivity.
• Read drawings like a story — catch scope changes early, flag shop drawing revisions, and keep the shop ahead of the schedule instead of chasing it.
• Direct employees through bundling, staging, and complete shipment of materials, and coordinate delivery dates with our trucking partners.
• Ensure shop labor costs and timecards are allocated accurately.
• Coordinate closely with the VDC team and detailing partners so work packages flow cleanly from VDC into production.
• Partner shoulder-to-shoulder with Project Managers, field personnel, Schedulers, and Work Order Processors to deliver high-quality projects on time.
• Assist the Shop Operations Manager with hiring, evaluations, and terminations of shop personnel.

What You Bring

• 7 years of relevant sheet metal experience — this is non-negotiable.
• Commercial HVAC production is a strong plus.
• Advanced knowledge and techniques within the sheet metal shop function
• Proven success leading complex projects, multiple crews, and field leaders
• Deep expertise in labor planning, scheduling, productivity, quality, cost, and project execution
• Strong judgment and the ability to make decisions in fast-moving environments
• A track record of developing people and building accountable teams
