Mechanic Helper Job Summary

Sweeping Corp of America is looking for a motivated Mechanic Helper to join our team. This is an entry-level position ideal for someone eager to start a career in equipment and diesel repair. As a Mechanic Helper, you will support experienced technicians by assisting with parts retrieval, basic mechanical tasks, and other shop duties. If you’re mechanically inclined and want to grow your skills in the repair industry, this is a great opportunity for you.

Location: 950 Montana Dr | Charlotte, NC 28216

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with basic mechanical tasks including tire changes, oil changes, and greasing trucks.
• Perform routine inspections and assist with basic repairs on engines, transmissions, and other machinery under the guidance of senior mechanics.
• Help with routine maintenance, including fluid replenishment, lubrication, and component greasing.
• Support troubleshooting efforts and assist in resolving basic mechanical issues.
• Assist with repairs on hydraulic systems and, occasionally, vehicle painting.
• Keep accurate logs of work performed and report any issues using the company’s maintenance system.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with safety guidelines and use of required PPE.
• Perform additional duties as needed, including other shop-related tasks as assigned.
  
  

Job Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
• Experience or interest in mechanics (prior experience is a plus).
• Own or working to obtain a toolbox with basic hand tools.
• Ability to perform basic mechanical tasks like fluid changes and greasing components.
• Willingness to learn and assist higher-level mechanics with more advanced repairs.
• Excellent attendance and reliability.
• Consistent attendance with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with flexible hours, including overtime and weekends as needed.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs. throughout the shift.
• Ability to work in noisy environments with exposure to vibration and fumes.
• Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and ability to follow instructions.
• Current enrollment or recent completion of Diesel Technology or related courses is preferred!
• Basic mechanical aptitude or previous industry experience is a plus, but not required.
