Job Summary

The Shop Mechanic will play a vital role in ensuring the proper maintenance, repair, and functionality of a fleet of trucks and trailers. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions

1. Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs of company vehicles and trailers.
2. Conduct thorough inspections to identify mechanical issues and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
3. Utilize diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
4. Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance activities.
5. Collaborate with operators and team members to identify recurring issues and propose solutions.
6. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE.
7. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
8. Order parts and supplies as needed for repairs.
9. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices.

Requirements, Education, and Experience

1. High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications preferred.
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience working with trucks and trailers.
3. Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
4. Proficiency with diagnostic, hand, and power tools.
5. Ability to interpret schematics and manuals.
6. Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
7. Effective communication and teamwork skills.
8. Valid driver’s license.
9. Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions.

Other Duties & Travel

Responsibilities may change; up to 5% travel within New York and New England.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Heavy physical work, standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, working near moving parts and loud equipment.
