Job Summary

We are hiring a Shop Diesel Technician II to support our growth. Responsibilities include performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, light repairs, diagnostics, and other duties. The technician will perform advanced diagnostics and repairs under supervision, continuously learning new skills and techniques, and maintaining high performance standards.

Duties

• Follow safety practices and procedures.
• Determine parts needed and coordinate with the Parts Department.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Apply knowledge from training and experience to perform job tasks.
• Work with Service Writers to assess customer needs and communicate effectively.
• Manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively.
• Act with integrity, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to ethical standards.
• Perform scheduled maintenance, DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs.
• Travel occasionally to customer locations.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks.
• Use hand tools, diagnostic instruments, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
• Document work and upload pictures using company devices and applications.
• Complete DOT and other forms accurately and timely.
• Work efficiently within standard repair times.
• Communicate with management and support teams for approvals and notes.
• Comply with safety, health, and environmental policies, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
• Participate in safety training.
• Maintain shop service trucks and conduct safety checks.
• Perform adjustments and repairs on various truck systems.
• Diagnose malfunctions using testing instruments.
• Assist other technicians as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Own a set of necessary hand tools.
• Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
• Pass DOT background screening and physical.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet driving requirements.

Certifications

• Required: ASE T8 (PMI), obtained within 18 months.
• Preferred: ASE T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, 608/609 certifications.
