Who We Are
2nd Cycle is a 501(c)(3) community cycle center that advocates for cyclists and promotes biking as a sustainable mode of transportation in Tacoma’s Hilltop and surrounding neighborhoods. Our mission is to normalize bike riding as part of daily life and empower individuals and communities through equitable access to bicycles and cycling education.

Position Summary
The Shop Mechanic (SM) is a foundational role at 2nd Cycle, performing much of our revenue-generating work and serving as a key point of contact for community members. This dynamic position blends mechanical expertise, customer service, and problem-solving. While the primary focus is on bike repair and maintenance, all shop staff are expected to assist across departments as needed.
You’ll be responsible for diagnosing and completing repairs, writing service tickets, educating customers about bikes and maintenance, and delivering top-notch service to empower folks through cycling.
Reports to: Bike Shop Manager & Service Lead
Classification: Part-time, non-exempt (Starting @ 3 days/week)

Hourly rate: $17–$22 DOE
