Job summary

Southern Truck Equipment Inc is seeking a hands-on Shop Manager to lead our Almont, MI shop. You will oversee daily operations, keep projects moving, and ensure top-quality truck equipment installations and repairs.

The role requires strong leadership to manage a skilled crew in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include production scheduling, mentoring technicians, coordinating with sales and customer service, managing parts and safety, and maintaining quality control.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a shop team in truck equipment or automotive
• Ability to read work orders and technical documents
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Proven ability to develop and motivate a team
• Excellent communication with customers and internal teams
• CDL or related certifications a plus

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day shop operations, workflow, and production scheduling
• Supervise, mentor, and manage shop technicians and support staff
• Ensure quality control standards on all truck equipment installations and repairs
• Coordinate with sales and customer service teams to meet deadlines and expectations
• Manage parts inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships
• Enforce safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized shop
• Troubleshoot technical issues and guide technicians as needed
