SRM Concrete (Smyrna Ready Mix) is seeking a hands-on Shop Manager / Diesel Mechanic to lead a team of mechanics, oversee shop operations, and mentor staff while performing repairs on diesel trucks, mixers and heavy equipment. The role blends leadership with skilled diagnostics and hands-on maintenance.

The position requires strong leadership, safety focus, and deep knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics and electrical systems.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic, Shop Manager, or Lead Technician; concrete or heavy equipment experience a plus.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
• Skilled with diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and quality focus.
• Leadership, communication, and teaching skills to motivate and develop the team.
• Organized with ability to manage shop operations and schedules.
• Commitment to safety standards in shop and field work.
• Willingness to complete SRM pre-employment screenings.

Responsabilités

• Lead and mentor a team of mechanics and shop staff, setting the standard for safety, efficiency, and quality.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on diesel engines and equipment, including oil changes, lubrications, and filter replacements.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on a variety of diesel vehicles and heavy machinery.
• Use diagnostic equipment and tools to accurately identify problems and determine the best solutions.
• Rebuild, replace, or repair major diesel engine components such as heads, blocks, starters, and transmissions.
• Collaborate with the operations team to schedule maintenance and repairs, minimizing downtime and keeping our fleet delivery-ready.
• Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures in the shop and on job sites.
• Keep detailed and accurate records of all maintenance and repair work.
• Stay current on the latest diesel engine technology, repair techniques, and industry best practices.
• Pitch in wherever needed—this is a hands‑on role where you’ll work alongside your team to get the job done.
