Job summary

SRM Concrete in Glenolden, PA is seeking a hands-on Shop Manager / Diesel Mechanic to lead a fleet shop, mentor a team, and perform repairs on diesel-powered trucks, mixers, and heavy equipment.

You will drive safety, efficiency, and quality, manage schedules, stay current with diesel technology, and collaborate with operations to keep our fleet delivery-ready—home daily with strong pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational/technical diesel repair cert a plus; CDL preferred.
• Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic, Shop Manager, or Lead Technician; heavy equipment/concrete experience a plus.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
• Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and commitment to quality work.
• Strong leadership, communication, and teaching skills.
• Organized and able to manage shop operations, schedules, and priorities.
• Commitment to safety standards and protocols in all work.
• Willingness to complete SRM’s pre-employment screenings.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor mechanics and shop staff, setting safety, efficiency, and quality standards.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on diesel engines and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on diesel vehicles and heavy machinery.
• Use diagnostic equipment to identify problems and determine solutions.
• Rebuild, replace, or repair major diesel engine components such as heads, blocks, starters, and transmissions.
• Collaborate with operations to schedule maintenance and repairs, minimizing downtime.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies in the shop and on job sites.
• Keep detailed maintenance and repair records.
• Stay current on diesel engine technology and best practices.
• Pitch in hands-on with the team to get the job done.
