Job summary

Nidec Motor Corporation is seeking a Shop Helper to perform general labor tasks in our U.S. facility. Responsibilities include disassembly/reassembly of motors, prepping parts, and basic facility maintenance.

You will operate forklifts and cranes with proper certification, complete paperwork, and adhere to safety and ISO procedures where applicable. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and a willingness to work evenings and/or weekends.

Qualifications

• Must pass all required pre-employment screenings – Background, Physical and Drug screen.
• Be willing to work evenings and/or weekends, if required.
• Ability to operate motor vehicles in compliance with state/federal requirements, if travel required.

Responsibilities

• Disassembly and reassembly of motors, generators, and pumps.
• Sandblast, steam clean, cleans and prep parts.
• Operate cutout saw and place motors, generators, and pumps in burn out oven.
• Perform general facility maintenance (lawn care, janitorial duties, sweeping, pressure washing, painting).
• Operate company equipment (Forklift, Crane, hand tools) safely.
• Complete required paperwork accurately and on time.
• Observe safety procedures and use protective gear.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area; follow ISO procedures if required.
• Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.

The primary responsibility of a Shop Helper is to perform general labor tasks. In this position your responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

• Assist with disassembly and reassembly of motors, generators, and pumps.
• Sandblast, steam clean, cleans and prep parts.
• Operates the cutout saw and put motors, generators, and pumps in the burn out oven.
• Performs tasks as required for general facility maintenance and upkeep including but not limited to lawn care, general janitorial duties, sweeping, pressure washing and painting.
• Operate company equipment (i.e.: Forklift, Crane, hand tools etc.) in a safe and efficient manner in the performance of all duties as required.
• Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis.
• Comply with all company policies / procedures and perform all job functions in an ethical manner.
• Complete all required safety training.
• Observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gear for all tasks.
• Responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly work area free of hazards as directed by supervisor.
• Performs all applicable duties in accordance with ISO procedures, if required.
• Perform other skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor.

Job Requirements:

• Must pass all required pre-employment screenings – Background, Physical and Drug screen.
• Be able to comply with all drug and alcohol policies of Houma Armature Works and/or customer sponsored programs. Subject to random Drug and Alcohol screenings.
• Be able to operate motor vehicles in compliance with all state and federal requirements, if travel required.
• Possess valid identification.
• Must be willing to work evenings and/or weekends, if required.
• Ability to successfully complete all required training, in-house/offsite.
• Forklift and overhead crane certification required.
• Quick troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Basic/Experienced mechanic knowledge.
• Basic computer skills.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to read, write and follow work instructions.
• Ability to interface with co-workers and customers.
• Ability to prioritize, organize and meet deadlines.
• Team player attitude with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Additional Job Details
